LIONS AGREE LAMBERT DEAL

Simon Lambert has become the sixth rider to agree terms to ride for Leicester in the Premier League next season.

Lions team manager Jason Attwood said: “Simon contacted me at the weekend and was keen to come to Leicester. I was impressed by him last season at Sheffield and how he improved his average by over 2 points! Simon will come into the team as a second string and his approach is that he's not coming just to make up the numbers. I'm delighted to have an up and coming English rider in the team for 2012 and feel sure the fans will get behind him.”

The twenty-two year old will join the team on a 5.64 average which places him in the main body of the side and this now leaves one place to fill to complete the Lions line-up for 2012.

“I am really pleased to have agreed terms with Leicester and with the team that Jason Attwood has assembled I am sure the club is in for a better year results wise. I am looking forward to a new challenge and I can’t wait to start practising” said Leicester’s latest signing at the weekend.

Lambert was a high scoring reserve for the Sheffield team that ended the year as runners-up in the British Premier League and the Lincolnshire born racer delivered two match winning performances against Leicester. In the first fixture at Owlerton in June Simon recovered from a crash in his opening ride to finish the evening unbeaten by a Leicester rider. In the return meeting a month later at the Beaumont Park Stadium Lambert was joint second top scorer for the visitors.
It is anticipated that the seventh member of the team will be announced later this week.
